A number of Connecters are already meaningfully engaged in breaking down barriers and combating polarization: we are presenting here a few exemples of concrete initiatives
Netflix against Racism
In June 2020, as protests supporting the Black Lives Matter movement swept the United States, Netflix launched a new “Black Lives Matter” collection to U.S. subscribers, featuring over 45 titles about racial injustice and the experience of Black Americans.
American Express and PSG celebrate Diversity and Inclusion
In November 2020, American Express, in partnership with the French Paris Saint Germain, launched a massive media campaign celebrating diversity and inclusion, two themes valued as « real levers of performance and success ».
Uber against Discriminations
In the Spring of 2021, Uber France launched its campaign “Ni dehors, ni à bord” (« Neither outside, nor on board”) with DDB Agency, condemning all forms of violence and discrimination. Uber developed the campaign with a number of nonprofits dedicated to fighting violences (Collectif féministe contre le viol, HandsAway, SOS homophobie et Stop harcèlement de rue).
The movie Invictus
The movie Invictus tells the inspiring and true story of how President Nelson Mandela (played by Morgan Freeman) joined forces with the captain of South Africa’s rugby team, Francois Pienaar (played by Matt Damon), to help unite the fractured South Africa country, and overcome economic and racial division in the wake of apartheid.
Faith Ringgold’s Hate is a Sin Flag
In 1968, artist Faith Ringgold protested outside the Whitney Museum in Manhattan against the discrimination faced by female and black artists in getting their work displayed at prominent New York museums. That day, she was called the N-word.
The movie Les Héritiers
Based on a true story, the movie Les Héritiers tells the story of a challenging tenth-grade class in the French sensitive urban zone of Créteil, and how an invested teacher signs up her at-risk students to participate in a national history contest. As the movie unravels, the collective work and shared experience of the contest brings the diverse group of students to overcome its differences and form strong bonds.

Composed of an equal number of Israelis and Palestinian musicians, the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra is dedicated to the idea of breaking down barriers in the Middle East and has been promoting coexistence and intercultural dialogue for 20 years.
